On Thursday, Eric came up with some
finalized plans. We were going to get a ride with Wayne Friday
morning before breakfast was served. Then we'd wait for the bus
passes.
When I got locked out of the computer
room without my stuff, I ended up wandering around. I saw Tosh and we
had an awkward conversation about Star Trek, but later I heard him
talking with a guy about how he's a "big trekkie," but
"only likes the newer movies, not the older stuff."
Just an update, I still can't use The
Force to choke the unworthy.
I ended up on the back patio with an
older fellow and a new arrival we'll just call Cool Beard. CB liked
the new Star Trek movies too, but he liked the old ones too. We
talked a bit about them, Paul, Planet of The Apes,
Europa Report. I ended up rambling for, like, ten minutes
about The Drake Equation.
We also talked about aliens. In my
view, there could be aliens, but not necessarily something from
another planetary system traveling faster than light to study us. I
think we'll travel faster than light one day because I want us
to travel faster than light one day because that's the kind of future
I've been raised on, The Forever War excepted.
Anyway, whatever unexplained phenomena
are, they don't actually impact my life that much. My personal set of
preconceptions and actions aren't changed by the reality of
intelligent, advanced life outside of modern day humans. I still need
to find a job, get a career, and regain all that I have lost.
Or not.
Either way, the aliens are academic
